'Self Portrait' flame anew
New solo work Self Portrait is back on the table for creative development.
Earlier this year I was granted a Fellowship from the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture to commence new research for Self Portrait, a dance-theatre work that explores identity and heritage and how we curate ourselves to the world.
The research aims to uncover Sephardi and flamenco connections, ancestry and spirituality through song, poetry and dance. I recently returned from Spain and I was fortunate to meet with members of the Jewish community in Andalusia who have a vested interest in flamenco and, so the ideas are fermenting fast.
