MOTHER TONGUE®
Mother Tongue weaves traditional dance, vocals and body rhythms with emergent technology, exploring nationhood, adaptation and healing, posing questions about our future.
LIVE WORK - IN DEVELOPMENT
Poetic and timely, Mother Tongue® is a live performance work - in development. Deeply resonant and visually and sonically spectacular, ancient cultures are authentically woven. The body percussion dances, rhythms and vocals of the Torres Strait Islands, South India, West Africa, Indonesia, Pacifica and Flamenco intricately merge with live traditional instrumentation and electronic soundscapes.
Subtly represented in four acts, the present, the past, deep time and the future, Mother Tongue® raises urgent questions about war, tolerance, healing - and love. To transition to the future, we must learn from our past.
Bridging human and artificial intelligence, Mother Tongue® interconnects our technological world with the human form. Communicating clearly, beyond spoken language Mother Tongue® asks the audience to share a vision of ourselves, globally, in a rapidly changing world.
